Golf Club Monticello in Cassina Rizzardi offers a versatile golfing experience near the Swiss border with its two distinct 18-hole courses. The Red Course features wide fairways and strategically demanding elements, while the Blue Course is designed to be sportier and more challenging. Both courses are typical parkland style and well maintained, providing fair and varied play for both amateur and experienced golfers. Recent investments in bunkers and water features underline the quality of the facility. The clubhouse with terrace contributes to a pleasant stay. Monticello is particularly suited for golfers who want to play more than one round in the Como region.

Just a few kilometers south of the Swiss border, near Cassina Rizzardi in the province of Como, lies Golf Club Monticello, one of the most spacious golf facilities in northern Italy. Founded in 1974, the club covers approximately 140 hectares and offers a total of 36 holes spread across two full 18-hole courses.
The Red Course measures 6,055 meters from the yellow tees and mostly runs through flat parkland. Wide fairways initially create a generous appearance, but water hazards, strategically placed bunkers, and well-defended greens repeatedly demand precise decisions. The Blue Course, slightly shorter at 5,842 meters, is more sporty and challenging. The varied fairways ensure that the two courses differ distinctly from each other.
Monticello also has a significant tournament history: the Italian Open has been held here several times. Nevertheless, the two courses are not exclusively designed for top-level golf. The relatively generous fairways and fair design make the facility playable and enjoyable for amateur golfers.
In recent years, investments have been made in the course. In 2021, the sand bunkers were renewed and two artificial lakes created. Together with the mature trees and well-maintained parkland, these features give Monticello its characteristic look.
After the round, the clubhouse with its terrace offers a nice view over the golf course. The restaurant and club atmosphere also make Monticello a pleasant place to spend an extended day of golf, beyond just the fairways.
Our impression: With 36 holes, Monticello is ideal if you want to play more than one round on a golf trip in the Como region. The Red and Blue Courses offer sufficiently different challenges without overwhelming casual golfers. Along with Villa d’Este and Varese, Monticello can be excellently integrated into a multi-day golf trip through Lombardy.
