Golfclub Sedrun

At approximately 1,500 meters above sea level, at the foot of the Oberalppass, Golfclub Sedrun offers an exceptional alpine golfing experience. Designed by Peter Harradine, the course is located just a few kilometers from the source of the Vorderrhein and is considered the first golf course on the Rhine. Surrounded by an impressive mountain backdrop, the layout traverses an open alpine landscape. The facility features nine varied holes. Thanks to different tee boxes for the second round, playing an 18-hole round does not simply mean playing the same holes twice. Typical for Sedrun are spectacular downhill tee shots where the ball seems to fly into nothingness. At the same time, the alpine terrain, water, and strategically placed hazards repeatedly call for precise decisions. A special highlight awaits at hole 7, offering a magnificent view over the entire golf course and the valley. Even more spectacular is the finishing hole. At hole 9, the tee shot crosses the young Rhine, which at this point still flows as a narrow mountain river through the landscape. Players with enough distance and accuracy can play aggressively and create a good birdie chance – a shot that is too short can quickly ruin the score. In addition to the course, there is a driving range as well as putting and short-game facilities available. Due to the altitude, the golf season typically lasts from May to October. Our impression: Sedrun is no ordinary 9-hole course. The combination of alpine character, spectacular elevation changes, the Rhine, and the mountain panorama make this facility one of the golf courses remembered especially for its unique experience. The finishing hole over the Rhine is likely among the most unusual tee shots in Switzerland.
