Circolo Golf Villa d’Este

Located in the Brianza region north of Milan, near Lago di Montorfano and Lake Como, Circolo Golf Villa d’Este is one of the most traditional golf courses in Northern Italy. Situated at around 450 meters above sea level, the elevated location offers pleasant conditions and a surprisingly green landscape reminiscent of Scotland. The 18-hole course, designed by Peter Gannon in 1926, winds through dense woods of chestnut, birch, and pine trees. The hilly terrain, water hazards, and varied layout require much more than just distance. With a par of 69, Villa d’Este is a technically challenging course where precision and good course management play a key role. Particularly striking is the contrast between the elegant atmosphere of the region and the course's original character. Fairways frequently disappear between the trees, only to open up new views of the surrounding landscape. The elevated position also ensures relatively comfortable playing conditions even during the warmer summer months. Its proximity to Como and Lake Como makes Circolo Golf Villa d’Este an attractive part of a golf trip through Northern Italy. Golf here can be excellently combined with Italian gastronomy, historical sites, and a few days at the lake. Our impression: Villa d’Este is a course for golfers who appreciate classic golf architecture and strategically demanding holes. The historic character, wooded landscape, and varied terrain provide a golfing experience that distinctly differs from typical Mediterranean resort courses in Italy.
